Corrupt politician Bolger conspired to commit election fraud

LANSING – In today’s first vote of the new legislative session, every Republican in the Michigan House voted to elect Jase Bolger (R-Marshall) as Speaker of the Michigan House. Last year Bolger was caught red handed after hatching a back-room scheme with former Rep. Roy Schmidt (R-Grand Rapids) to commit election fraud.

“It’s disappointing that every single Republican voted to reward Jase Bolger with another term as Speaker following his shameful election rigging scheme,” said Zack Pohl, Executive Director of Progress Michigan. “It’s clear Lansing politicians have the wrong priorities. After a session spent slashing taxes on corporate CEOs, hiking taxes on families and seniors, cutting education funding, and attacking the middle class, it’s sad that every Republican endorsed this agenda.”

NOTE: Jase Bolger received opposition from some members of the Michigan House in his vote to be reelected Speaker, an unprecedented development in Michigan politics.
