Progress Michigan Statement on Botched Prevailing Wage Repeal

MICHIGAN — The following statement is from Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan on the breaking news that the attempt to repeal the prevailing wage by way of petition signatures appears to have come up short in its first count:

“Once again, a DeVos-backed effort to buy a piece of legislation that would lower wages for Michiganders is crashing because of shoddy signature collection. The signature collectors lied and used deceitful tactics to trick people into signing and still appear to have come up short, which sounds just like the Republican logic for repealing prevailing wage in the first place. We’re glad to see this disastrous policy change once again go down in flames and hope that the larger sample review ends with the same result.”
