Giving Thanks

I’ve been working at Progress Michigan for about three months now. When I was brought on as the Digital Media Strategist, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I came from the corporate marketing world, helping Fortune 500 companies connect with consumers in new and innovative ways. I loved what I was doing, but after the election, I felt like I needed to do more.

I wanted to connect with people about the things that matter most, and help them create a brighter future for all of us. Progress Michigan has given me that opportunity and much more. Every day I get to see incredible people from all over the state using their skills, ideas, and passion to move our state in a positive direction.

I won’t lie, the days and weeks can be long. They can be tiring and frustrating and downright upsetting. There is so much work to be done and we all know we can only do so much in a day’s time. And yet, I’m more hopeful than I’ve ever been.

The hope I find with every passing day is unlike anything I’ve felt before. This hope isn’t flowery or abstract. It’s hard-hitting and hard-working. It’s active and passionate. Seeing how many people in this state truly care about causes that matter to all of us is inspiring beyond words.

That’s why, when we were mapping out what we wanted to focus on this month, I knew saying “thanks” had to be high on the list. Throughout the month of November, we’re giving thanks to just some of the amazing people, groups, and things that make Michigan a great place to live. These posts are just a snapshot of all the hard work and beautiful things happening in our state. We encourage you to share with us and each other what you’re thankful for as well.

Cheers to a more progressive Michigan, and thanks for all that you do!

We’ll compile all of our posts here, so check back throughout the month to see them all in one place. Feel free to borrow these images to say thanks on your own social pages!
